Fly fishing for Salmon around Kodiak Island is a thrill with schools of fish that can number a thousand or more. Our salt water bays are drainages to fresh water steams that these fish call home. Each species of salmon arrives back to their native stream silver bright and full of energy; they are in their prime. Catching them in the salt water where they have room to run is an experience you can't wait to tell all your friends about!

Kodiak has wide and shallow bays with tides twice daily. Huge mud flats occur during low tide and water can fill each bay up to the grass line at high tide; a verticle rise and fall of water sometimes over twenty feet! It is impossible to wade far enough or fast enough to keep up with all fish that come and go on the tides. The perfect answer is the Flats Boat, the very same used to fish tropical waters for tailing Bonefish or Redfish. Pole up to a schools of Salmon and sight cast over and over again; schooling salmon are very visible rising to the surface, jumping or showing their tails and dorsel fins. We fish for Chum, Pink and Silver Salmon from mid July through September.

Recommended gear: 7wt.to 9 wt. rods with a good large arbor reel and backing. Both sinking and floating lines and leaders with up to 16# tippet. Please call and ask us about flies and seasons.

Price is $500.00 per day for the boat and guide with a maximum of two fishers.
